Working full time is hard especially when you're not used to wake up at 5:30 to go to work. I'm used to going to bed after midnight to wake up around 8/9, but now people actually expect me to be fully awake and fully functional at 7:30. I'm doing my best, but every night I am exhausted.
Saturday night was awesome in many ways. While I was driving I talked to the only close friend that I've known since elementary school, Minh. We even went to high school together, but I digress. I called her because I had forgotten on Saturday afternoon and I wanted to do it. It was nice because I didn't have to worry about long distance fees or anything like that, but I had to cut it short when I arrived downtown to find the so-ever elusive parking spot. I finally found it and went to my friend's screening of her documentary based on her humanitarian international intervention in Colombia that she did this summer and it was great. I stayed to watch the next one which I didn't like and after talking to my friends during the break, I left as I had to meet Sophie, a really close friend of mine, to celebrate her cousin's 18th birthday by going to a cool club here. They were still eating, so I called Xavier as we had to plan our first get-together of the holidays and I went to Starbucks because I enjoy using my Starbuck's card to buy overpriced coffee. I met a girl that went to the same elementary school and high school, but she was busy studying, so we didn't chat for long. Still, it's nice to see I'm not the only person to enjoy Starbuck's that much [I'm not paid to advertise Starbuck's, but I would gladly accept free Frappucinos or other yummy beverages that the barristas serve].
We decided to go out for drinks before the club as it was too early, so my friends were meeting me at the Saint-Sulpice, a really cool bar, because Sam was working there for the night. I got there early and met a guy from my high school that I hadn't seen since I graduated in 2003. We had the traditional two pecks on the cheeks and then, the how are you. However, he was tipsy as he was celebrating the end of the week with his work buddies, but it was nice to rekindle an old friendship. Then, I waited for Sophie and of course, the homeless black man decided to tell me his whole life because I was obviously interested... not! Finally, Sophie, her sister and her cousin arrived and I could finally leave that man and his hobby, music as well as his cute son's pictures. Then, we walked over to Tokyo, a really hip club here and it was fun. We didn't stay for long though, but enough time to fully appreciate the bar and their great Amaretto Sours, their dance floors, the music, the people and the two different ambiances. I'll probably go back as this was a really cool club and it's also 21+ which is not usually the case here as the drinking age is 18 which means there were no 16 years old girls in the whole club which feels nice!
Then, Sunday was laziness and I've been working like crazy since Monday doing those crazy 7h30 till 3h30 plus social activities on evenings. On Tuesday, I went with Xavier to the movies where we saw
The Holiday which was a really good feel-good movie like
Love Actually even if Cameron Diaz bugged me throughout the movie because Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Jake Black made it great! We then went to this fancy neighborhood Italian restaurant and it was fun, we just talked for hours. Then, today, my best friend, Annie, came home for the holidays from the MIT, so we had to go out. We went to the
Salon des métiers d'arts de Montréal which could be translated into
Montreal's Fine-Crafts Fair. I bought myself beautiful chandelier earrings as well as my secret Santa gift, a necklace that Annie coveted but she picked another one instead to go with her new dress. She thinks I picked someone else and of course, I won't tell her I picked her until her package is in her hands tomorrow night.
Off to bed, another day at work and then, it's my girlfriends glamour party followed by a sleepover at Sophie's place, I can't wait !!!
